Tennessee: 2012 Election Night Info Sheet

Polls Closed: 8:00 PM EST
Electoral Votes: 11
Congressional Delegation:
7 Republicans, 2 Democrats,
Congressional Race Ratings: 6 Safe Republicans, 2 Safe Democrats, 1 Lean Republican (TN-4)

President: The home state of Al Gore has shifted considerably since the early part of the decade. While I'd expect this state to provide very little drama, the margin will be interesting to watch. John McCain was able to win here by 15 points but polling suggests Obama will be able to narrow the margin this time. Projection: Romney

TN-SEN: Sen. Bob Corker was able to win a slugfest in 2006, making him the only Republican to be elected despite facing a serious challenge. He's facing token opposition this time around and is quickly becoming one of the nations safest incumbents. Projection: Corker

TN-4: Scandal, specifically the allegation Rep. Scott DesJarlais pressured his mistress to have an abortion 10 years ago, has turned this safe seat into a competitive one. Ethical lapses of this magnitude are often career killers, the only question is when: will it be this year or the 2014 primary? Democrats have state Sen. Eric Stewart, a solid candidate, but this would not be an easy opportunity to capitalize on. Projection: Lean DesJarlais
